Jehoshua, the Divine name of our Messiah

Numbers 3:16 (KJV)

16These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

Hebrews 4:8 (KJV)

8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Jesus is rendered from the Greek word "Iesous" (Strongs 2424) of Hebrew origin (Yhowshuwa' 3091); Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites:- Jesus (Joshua). Jesus = "Jehovah is Salvation".

Hebrews 4:8 is speaking of Joshua the son of Nun not Jesus the Son of God, this a reference to Numbers 3:16. This passage is more accurately rendered as "Joshua" not Jesus. However the name Joshua and Jesus are one and the same have the same meaning and come from the same Hebrew origin "Yhowshuwa" (Hebrew Strongs 3091) which comes from "Yhovah" (3068 Hebrew Strongs) and "Yasha" (3467); Jehovah-saved; Jehoshua,  Jehoshuah, Joshua. Compare "Howshea" (1954 Hebrew strongs), "Yeshuwa" (Hebrew Strongs 3442).

Isn't it amazing that Joshua (Jehoshua) the son of Nun was a type of Jehoshua the Son of God and this verse in Numbers is numbered as 3:16 just like John that speaks of Jehovah sending us His only begotten Son Jehoshua (Jehovah is Salvation) to save the world.

John 3:16 (KJV)

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Numbers 3:16 (KJV)

16These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

"Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua"

The change involved the addition of the letter "yod", which with the letter hay (H) forms the first part of yod-hay-waw-hay (YHWH) and symbolizes Joshua's future role as Israel's leader. This part (YH) is sometimes used by itself for the  Divine name (as in Exodus 15:2) and frequently as a suffix to human names (as in Elijah).

The Jewish study bible note reads, "Moses emends Joshua's name, Hosea (13:8), by adding the prefix 'ye', possibly a theophoric element associated with the Israelite God." The Companion bible note reads, "Jehoshua...sometimes Jeshua (Nehemiah 8:17). Hoshea = savior, or salvation. With Je (Yah); prefixed = he by whom Jehovah will save."

The Son of God's Divine name Jehoshua  bears the name of His Father Jehovah. Jehoshua = Jehovah is Salvation!

Joel 2;32 (ASV)

32And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.

John 5:43 (KJV)

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

Philipians 2:9-11

9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a surname which is above every name:10That at the name of Jehoshua every knee should bow, of things celestially, and things terrestrially, and things subterraneanly;11And that every tongue should confess Jehovah Jehoshua Messiah to the honour of God the Father.

Psalm 118:26 (ASV)

26Blessed be he that cometh in the name of Jehovah: We have blessed you out of the house of Jehovah.27Jehovah is God, and he hath given us light: Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

Luke 19:38 (DNKJB)

37And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;38Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the JEHOVAH: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
